Landis+Gyr has bagged a smart metering contract from Tata Power Delhi Distribution.
Landis+Gyr said the smart metering deal is a follow up to the contract for India’s first Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) with Radio Frequency (RF) Canopy, comprising 500,000 endpoints announced earlier this year.
The deal include 200,000 single phase and three phase smart meters.
Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD of Tata Power-DDL said that taheir work with Landis+Gyr on India’s first, large scale, smart meter and RF canopy development which covers the full 510 square kilometers of Tata Power- DDL’s area of operation, marks a significant step in the company’s effort to bring smart grid technology to India.
He further said that this development will empower their consumers by utilizing a two-way communicaiton system and help us to build an important foundation for smart grid, featuring world class power distribution infrastructure.
TPPDL, a joint vanture between Tata Power and Delhi Government, distributes electricity to a populace of seven million across an area of 510 sq km in North Delhi with peak load of 1852 MW.
