How Fusion Power Systems was born
What inspired Kapil Sood, the managing director of this company, to set it up was the shortage of quality battery suppliers in India about a decade ago. With the opening up of new industries and rapid advances in automation, he saw immense opportunities for growth in this sector. So he quit his job and started his own venture—Fusion Power Systems.

A look at brand Amptek
Amptek is the brand name of Fusion Power Systems’ wide range of rechargeable SLA batteries. These batteries strictly comply with JIS and IEC standards. They are especially designed, built and tested to perform in the most difficult environments and have good stability, high capacity, small sizes and a long service life. AMPTEK SMF battery models 12V24Ah and 12V33Ah are approved by ICAT (International Centre for Automotive Technology). AMPTEK Lithium Ion Cells are also approved and certified by BIS. At present, Fusion Power Systems produces both small- and large-sized Amptek batteries in a range that includes more than 60 models—in 2V, 6V and 12V with rated capacities of 0.3Ah to 3000Ah.
Application areas: The batteries are used in UPS systems, telecommunications, electronic weighing machines, solar energy, railways, emergency lighting systems, LED lights, security systems, robotics, electric vehicles, portable video cameras and personal computers.

Machinery at the plant
Fusion Power Systems has all the machinery required for the assembly of lead acid batteries. Some of the machines it uses are:

  • Automatic vacuum acid filling machine
  • Microcontroller based battery formation charging unit
  • High rate discharge testing machine
  • Ultrasonic sealing machine, batch code engraver
  • Microcontroller spot welding machine

The company also has different sets of internal resistance testing equipment, microprocessor cell charging/discharging systems for group matching, and complete sets of equipment for post-assembly testing and quality control.
