The renewables unit of Indian power company Tata Power Co Ltd has commissioned a 36-MW portion of a wind farm and a 49-MW solar power plant in India.
The wind capacity is part of a 100-MW wind farm under construction at Nimbagallu in the southeastern state of Andhra Pradesh.
The solar power plant, located at Kayathar in the neighbouring southern state of Tamil Nadu, was commissioned under Welspun Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd, which Tata acquired last year, according to an announcement last week.
Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd now has 1,876 MW of operating capacity, including 841 MW of wind, 915 MW of solar and 120 MW waste heat recovery.
Rahul Shah, chief executive and executive director, Tata Power Renewable Energy, said that their strategic approach is in line with Tata Power’s aim to expand its clean energy portfolio up to 35-40 per cent by 2025. He further added that the business continued to seek to grow its portfolio in India and in select international markets through organic and inorganic opportunities.
