The new production facility of Sahasra Electronics with a capacity to produce 1 million electronic storage devices per month will boost ‘Make in India’ as well as explore the global market
Sahasra Electronics, A leading Electronics Manufacturing Service ( EMS) provider from India, inaugurated its recently installed automated production line in Noida Special Economic Zone ( NSEZ) for manufacturing of electronic storage devices including USB storage devices and SSD storage devices of capacity upto 1 terrabyte. Sahasra has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Phison Electronics, NAND flash device controller supplier, for technical partnership in this venture. This new venture involves investment of approximately INR 100 million. The new production facility is capable of producing 1 million units per month.
“Indian market needs around 3 million units of electronics storage devices per month . Through our new venture, we will cater to the domestic market as well as export the products to South Asian and African countries.” explains Amrit Manwani, CMD, Sahasra Electronics while explaining the business strategy associated with this new venture.
Manwani also mentions “ Our immediate aim is to value add upto 50% or more with respect to local sourcing of components. Our long term objective is also to produce micro SD cards which are integral part of mobile devices.” Therefore, this venture will create opportunity for the entire electronics manufacturing value chain.
Dr. Ajay Kumar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and IT ( MeitY), Dr. L.B. Singhal, Development Commissioner of NSEZ, Kenichiro Hibi, MD, Sony India , T.H. Kuang , Executive Vice President, Phison Electronics and Ernest Rwamucyo , His Excellency High Commissioner of Rwanda to India were among the dignitaries present at the inaugural ceremony.
