The government has given its final consent to set up a greenfield electronics manufacturing cluster under ‘Make in India’ initiative at Kakkanad in Ernakulamin in Kerala.
The project proposes to create an industrial park as per the international standard with all modern facilities.
The southern Indian state of Kerala with its vast talent pool consisting of electronics engineering graduates presents an attractive proposition to the electronic manufacturing industry.
The project will be executed in a phased manner.The units that will come up in the cluster will be eligible for the privileges under M-SIP (Modified Special Incentive Package) Scheme.
The Central government would provide Rs. 50 crore as grant.
The target beneficiaries of the electronics cluster are manufacturers of desktops, laptops, notebooks, Netbook Computers and Tablet PCs, telecom equipment, mobile handsets, parts and accessories, consumer electronics, colour TV sets, set top boxes, liquid crystal displays, industrial electronic products, semiconductors and ATMP memories, electronic components, solid state memory products, memory cards and USB drives.
