The government of India is planning to spend $7 billion on IT products and services in 2016, which means the government has increased the budget by 3.1 per cent as compared to last year.
According to a report released by US-based, research firm Gartner, the total outlay will include spending on internal services, software, IT services, data center, devices and telecom services.
The expected spending will be made by state, local governments and the Centre.
As per the report the software market will be led by growth in infrastructure.
IT services which includes consulting, software support, business process outsourcing, IT outsourcing, implementation, and hardware support is expected to grow 8.8 per cent in 2016 to reach $1.6 billion. It also said that the business process outsourcing sub-segment will grow by 22 per cent.
