Micromax subsidiary Yu Televentures started selling smartphones online since last one year now the the company is looking forward to start offline sales. The company says that there experience online has been much more their expectations but they realise the potential offline market provides in a country like India. Now Micromax is targetting to have 50 per cent of Yu smartphones revenue coming from offline model.
In November last year, Yu had started selling its handsets offline in partnership with Reliance Retail.
“We did a small trial with them (Reliance) and we received an overwhelming response. The online route has done well for us. But there is a huge market opportunity in the offline space and that is growing. That is why, we want to expand our presence in the offline market as well,” Yu Televentures founder Rahul Sharma told PTI.
The company is planning to be present at 50,000 shops by the end of this year and this would give them a good reach to the offline market in the country. The smartphone market in the country is growing at a very fast rate and many global players are now trying to get into this market.
