India’s focus to concentrate on defence manufacturing has been a boon for many. Local entrepreneurs primarily from micro, small & medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Aurangabad are looking for opportunities to be part of defence manufacturing. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) recently held buyer-seller meet where it was assessed that business to the tune of Rs 300 can be achieved by the local manufacturers.
Milind Kank, convener of the event said, “Around 100 vendors participated in the meet. We had also invited Larsen & Toubro Ltd and Tata Motors Ltd to interact with vendors and explore opportunities of business in Aurangabad. Significant portion of the purchase of these major players can be fulfilled from Marathwada.”
Defence manufacturing is a domain where India can become one of the power houses in manufacturing. India has been primarily importing defence equipments and recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that defence manufacturing will be biggest job generator in the country very soon.
Within the next few years, many local companies will be benefitted from defence manufacturing in the country and the MSMEs in Aurangabad are right to think that they can see this as a new and fresh business opportunity for them.
