Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer is quite serious about tapping the India market. The company has already partnered with GDN Enterprises, which has an assembly set up in Noida so that HTC smartphones can be manufactured their. Today the company said it has launched seven new smartphones in India in order to enhance their marketshare in this nation. The phones are priced between Rs 13,990 to Rs 52,990. It flagship model HTC 10 is the highest priced product.
Faisal Siddiqui, President HTC South Asia, said, “India is one of the fastest growing smartphone markets globally and the customers are technology savvy. We are pleased to launch our all-new range of smartphones in the HTC One and Desire categories.” The other devices launched were HTC One X9, HTC Desire 628, HTC Desire 830, HTC Desire 630 and HTC Desire 825.
The company said 4G is the technology that is going to stay and increase and all these smartphones are 4G enabled and the company wants to be a significant player in this domain. According to research firm IDC, smartphone shipments in the country grew 5.2 per cent to 23.5 million units in January-March 2016 from the year-ago period.
“4G based smartphones shipments clocked 15.4 million units in Q1 2016, which has grown more than six times over the same period last year,” the report said.
