Japanese air conditioner (AC) gaint has announced that it has opened its first research and development (R&D) centre in Neemrana (Alwar) in order to make tailor-made products for the Indian market. The development centre is spread across 5,135 square meters and it employs 65 engineers and the plans to expand the employee strength to 150 in the next four years.
“We are progressing to become the market leader and this initiative is intended to increase our manufacturing competitiveness in the country,” Kanwal Jeet Jawa, MD – Daikin Airconditioning India Pvt Ltd, told reporters after the inauguration.
The focus of the company is to manufacture different products for different markets and it will be based on the weather condition of various markets. Daikin feels that they have become quite a reknown brand in the Indian market and it will not be long when they become the market leader in the AC market in the country.
Earlier the company had R&D centres in Malaysia and Thailand and now India becomes the company’s third R&D base. The chairman, Toshio Nakano, Chairman, Daikin Industries inaugurated the plant.
