Apple’s Tim Cook is in his maiden visit to the country and today he meet founders of four startups and tried to understand their ecosystem and application building platforms in the country. The founders of startups who were called in to meet are from UrbanClap, Cynapse (also known as Numerics), Sweetcouch and Avaz. Also present at the meet was Jeff Williams, chief operating officer, Apple and Oliver Schusser, vice-president of iTunes International.
Cook is in the country to make some significant announcements regarding their setting up of manufacturing base in the country. The Apple CEO will also be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 21st May.
Co-founder of UrbanClap Raghav Chandra; Sweetcouch founder Rajesh Chokhani; Cynapse founder Apurva Roy Choudhury and Ajit Narayanan of Chennai-based Invention Labs, which runs Avaz met Cook in Mumbai for an hour, where they gave a demo of their iOS mobile applications to the Apple CEO.
Apple today also announced the opening of a new office in Hyderabad that will focus on development of its Maps product. This investment will accelerate Maps development and create up around 4,000 jobs in the country, says the company.
