Good news seems to be pouring in for India’s electronic manufacturing industry. Finnish electronic manufacturing services (EMS) company Salcomp has said that they are planning to open their second manufacturing unit at Noida.
According to company officials there is a lot of sense in opening a second manufacturing unit in the country and India is gearing up to become the biggest manufacturer of smartphones globally and as per estimates, we already have 25 smartphone manufacturers in the country. The company also feels that it is important to be close to customers and there are a lot of customers in north India so it made sense for them to open their base in Noida.
“I am pleased to announce that the lease agreement has now been signed for a new factory in Noida. The target is to ramp up the production during coming three months. When the new Noida factory is fully operational, it can produce up to 100 million chargers per annum,” said Markku Hangasjärvi, President and CEO of Salcomp.
Salcomp already has a manufacturing unit in Chennai which focuses on manufacturing chargers for exports to Salcomp’s plants in China and Brazil. The company said that the new plant in Noida will focus on manufacturing chargers and other products for the India domestic market.
