The Madhya Pradesh government is inviting electronics companies to set up manufactuing base in their state. With a special focus on electronic system design and manufacturing (ESDM), the state is planning to to set up two electronic manufcaturing clusters in Bhopal and Jabalpur. The state government wants the companies to set up their units by June 11, 2016.
The Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd said in a notification that the units shall be entitled for special benefits apart from the ones available in the policy. Some of the key policy benefits would be in terms of acquiring land at subsidised rates with stamp duty exemptions; capital and interest subsidy; skill gap study; VAT/ CST reimbursement etc; and special incentives for mega projects.
There are many states who have been encouraging electronics manufacturing under the ‘Make in India’ initiative and Madhya Pradesh is also following other states in wooing investors. The growth of electronic manufacturing in the country will not only reduce our imports but also ensure employments for local citizens.
At present, the country imports 65 per cent of electronic equipment, computer hardware and other electronic items. The central government has set a target of reducing the import of electronic items to 50 per cent by the financial year 2016-17 from the present level of 65 per cent.
