One of the recent success for Maharashtra is the fact that Foxconn is closing on a deal to manufacture iPhones in the country and Maharashtra is the state where the $10 billion facility is going to come up. To further extend biletaral cooperation CII has proposed to set up an institutional mechanism – the “Shanghai-Mumbai Dialogue” which was launched at the conference on China & India: Strengthening Partnership in Science & Technology, Innovation, Financial & IT Services.
Speaking at the conference, the state chief minister, Devendra Fadanavis said that India is a land of opportunities of more than one billion people and the state of Maharashtra is the powerhouse in the coiuntry. The state is now opening doors of opportunity for technology companies with 10 smart city project for improving city infra, the state government has allocated $15 billion for this project in the current year, he said.
With Shanghai as a partner to Mumbai the state government is looking forward to learn how it can transform the city with technology advances. With the ‘Make in India’ initiative Chinese manufacturers can now locate themselves in Maharashtra as India is huge market, opportunities also exist for electronic manufacturers with the state’s new electronic and FAB policy which gives out huge incentives to manufacturers.
