India is emerging as one of the fastest growing chipset market in the Asia Pacific region, thanks to the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. According to a recently released report titled “India Chipset Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2020”, the country chipset market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 26 per cent during 2015-2020 period.
In the last one year, India has witnessed vast foreign as well as local investments coming in the electronics manufacturing domain and this has led to the growth of the chipset market. It will further be propelled by more manufacturing prospects in the country. In terms of regions that are leading the chipset growth, the north and south India is excelling primarily due to the kind of manufacturing investments in these two locations.
According to the report published by Reportlinker, computers, laptops, printers and peripheral chipsets are key application areas for chipsets in India. The report states that “with robust growth in smartphone penetration across the country over the last few years, a growing number of computer and laptop chipset manufacturers are increasing their focus towards smartphone chipsets in order to diversify their product portfolios and strengthen their market position.”
