The Indian electronic system design and manufacturing (ESDM) industry is entering a phase of vast potential. According to numbers shared by the Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY) and the Task Force Report, the estimated production of electronics in the country will reach US$ 104 billion by the year 2020, resulting in a gap of US$ 296 billion between demand and what domestic manufacturing can deliver. This creates a unique opportunity for companies in the ESDM sector to look at India as their next destination, to cater to local demand as well as act as an export hub.
Moreover, the government is boosting large scale manufacturing of electronic components in India by setting up manufacturing clusters, initiating skill development schemes and even offering incentive schemes like the Modified Special Incentive Package Scheme (MSIPS). These initiatives have driven the growth of existing players while paving way for new ones to enter.
Electronics Bazaar has attempted to rank the top electronic components manufacturers in India. The ranking is based on the companies’ revenues in the financial year 2013-14. Most of the companies listed have registered growth compared to 2012-13. There has been a change in the rankings of a number of companies. This year, Deki Electronics Ltd has moved ahead of Globe Capacitors Ltd to the third position while Keltron Component Complex Ltd moved down to the sixth position, replacing Cosmo Ferrites Ltd, which moved to the fifth position. However, Epcos India, maintained the first position with a whopping jump of more than 1000 million in total revenue. This year’s top scorers also have a new entry in Rosy Electronics Pvt Ltd, which is ranked eleventh.
The companies ranked, have their components manufacturing facility in India. We have not included companies that manufacture connectors or are solely manufacturing semiconductors. We also chose not to include Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) in the ranking as it is a multi-product and multi-unit company. Many companies like Solid State Systems Pvt Ltd, Cermet Resistronics Pvt Ltd, etc, could not be ranked as their revenue figures were not accessible, while some companies also declined to disclose their revenue figures. A few leading companies which did not share their revenue details with us are listed among ‘Other leading electronic components manufacturers in India.’
The revenue figures have been procured from the website of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), government of India. Some companies also sent us their balance sheets.
