March 28, 2015: Gujarat has produced 1,444.38 million units of solar power in 2014. Whereas, the generation of wind energy stood at 5,662.30 million units during the same period. In the last two years, wind power production capacity rose by 492.4MW while that of solar by 88.97MW.
Saurabh Patel, Energy and petrochemicals minister informed in a written reply said that between 2013 and 2014 the wind power generation increased by 290.95MW while from 2014 to 2015 it grew by 201.45MW. The minister added that in these two periods, the growth in solar power generation was 28.04MW and 60.93MW.
