February 16, 2015: Mahindra and Mahindra, one of India’s largest auto player, has announced its plans to invest Rs 40 billion to set up a new manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu. The new unit will be aimed to manufacture the new auto models of the company.
The investment will be done in two stages over a period of seven years. In the first phase, the company will set up test track facilities followed by the manufacturing plant in the second phase.
The government of Tamil Nadu has allocated a space of 1.03sq km for the set up in Cheyyar in Kancheepuram district. This will be Mahindra and Mahindra’s largest unit in India, outside Pune.
This is company’s future plant, developing products that will be launched by Mahindra and Mahindra in future, both for Indian and international markets.
