January 13, 2015: Oil and natural gas corporation (ONGC) jointly with Goa energy development agency will build a 1MW solar power plant at ONGC’s base at Betul told Shashi Shankar, director (technology and field services), ONGC director.
Shashi Shankar was speaking at the 3rd Carbon management and sustainability group annual meet held in Panaji, Goa.
The objective of building a solar power plant is to contain ONGC’s carbon emissions and at the same time be self sufficient in terms of energy needs.
Established in 2007, the carbon management group aims at formulating climate conservation strategy and policy and also increasing ONGC’s sustainability reporting. In 2012, the organisation was renamed Carbon management and sustainability group.
