Monday, December 29, 2014: With a view to push PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ campaign, the Indian government has asked all the departments to use domestically manufactured electronic products. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to conduct a day long consultation with all stake holders to discuss and frame a specific layout for the project.
An official of the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) said that a short term annual action plan for early deliverables as well as long term plan of three years would be prepared for each sector. He stated that by doing this it would get easier to do business in India, thereby enhancing the manufacturing share in the economy.
A day-long session will be conducted between the Centre, state governments and industry representatives for each sector, involving oil and gas, capital goods, pharmaceuticals, textiles, gems and jewellery. Following this, the action plan would be discussed with the Prime Minister.
Also, a separate session has been arranged with state chief secretaries and principal industry secretaries on Monday, with an aim to improve the ease of doing business. The efforts came in picture at the time when the government of India is trying to revive manufacturing activities in the country.
