Friday, December 26, 2014: Taiwanese businesses have extended a deal to Indian companies on a unique ‘Original brand manufacturer’ (OBM) model, on the lines of its industrial collaboration with India. Under the OBM model, Taiwanese companies will set up a manufacturing facility in India and thereby will allow the partner Indian companies to put their brand name on the products manufactured.

All those products developed under the Indian brands will then be marketed within the country. Taiwan will also provide the marketing support to the Indian brands to export their products to other countries as well. This initiative is the part of the PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ campaign, which invites foreign players to set their manufacturing facilities within the country.

A high-level team of 25 members Taiwan Industrial Collaboration Mission will shortly visit India to meet Indian industry and government officials, for this. By far only three areas are covered under the OBM initiative, namely, electronics, ship-building and textiles.
