Thursday, December 25, 2014: Government of India has received investment proposals worth Rs 180,000 million during last six months in the field of electronics manufacturing, informed Ravi Shankar Prasad, telecom minister. While addressing the FICCI’s Annual General Meeting on electronics manufacturing, he said that among these, over Rs 40,000 million proposals have been approved, whereas rest are still in the pipeline.
He further added that the new NDA government has further also approved 8-9 electronics clusters, which will involve complete eco-system for developing electronic products.
Prasad said that the sum and substance of this electronic cluster will be based up on if a state government provides 100 acre of land, the central government will give Rs 500 million grant. Also, if an investor invests Rs 100, government will contribute to it Rs 25. The foreigner would also be ebtitled to some benefits if he invests in India under the scheme and exports. The Minister also added that he’ll be open to bring some changes in the policies of the sector in order to mak it more investor friendly.
