Thursday, December 18, 2014: Lava International shares that the company is planning to expand its operations in India while counting on PM Narendra Modi’s Make in India initiative. Hari Om Rai, the managing director and chairman of Lava international announced that the company will soon come up with its manufacturing facility in Noida. It is preparing itself to start the production of first locally developed product by March 2015.
Rai expressed his enthusiasm on setting up manufacturing plant here by saying that he is very passionate about the make in India initiative. He noted that the company is planning to bring its manufacturing facility in Noida first and perhaps would also expand it further in other Northern states, depending up on the tax concessions that they get.
He noted that in next 10-15 years, India is likely to provide 40 per cent of the world’s electronics and further told that the company is carrying out its sales in Nepal, Thailand, Middle East, and Russia. He claimed that Lava was the number two smartphone manufacturer in Thailand. He expressed his hopes towards being on right track to develop his company as a one billion dollar venture. Rai believes it to be a right time to initiate manufacturing in the country under the ‘Make In India’ initiative.
