Thursday, December 11, 2014: Samsung has appointed Pranav Mistry as Global VP on 7 December 2014. He was currently serving as the VP of Samsungs’s US research unit in the Silicon Valley and also headed the Think Tank team of Samsung.
Notably, Mistry from Gujarat, India, is the youngest person who got promoted, at age of 33, to head the Samsung Electronics as part of recent management re-shuffle which involved about 250 people. He has played a significant role in releasing the Samsung’s Galaxy Gear in September 2013, involving its line of wearable technology products and also identified the SixthSense feature, which allows users to interact with digital information about the physical world around them whilst using their hands.
He joined Samsung back in 2012, as the director of research. Prior to this, he had worked as a UX Researcher with Microsoft. His promotion came at a time when the company is going through a decline in its profit margin and perhaps is also looking to turn around its smartphone business.
