In April 2014, Thakur Angre ECPL introduced its new range of TAR solid state relays (SSRs). These relays are specifically designed for switching capacitive loads. They have a high peak inverse voltage (above 1600 V-1800 V) and have an ultra low zero-cross switching capability. TAECPL offers SSRs with high surge current ratings, which are ideal for capacitor switching. The SSRs feature back-to-back SCR output, IC logic firing capability and 4000 V isolation between input and output. Solid state reliability, along with improved thermal performance achieved by TAECPL and expertise in producing power modules help to make these units ideal replacements for mechanical relays and contactors – for use in APFC panels. These relays are available in packages that are easy to mount on standard heat sinks. The TAR SSRs are also available in the same package for resistive and inductive loads, such as heaters, motors, etc.
