Thursday, September 11, 2014: India is now an ‘Authorising Nation’ for CCRA certification to allow testing IT and electronics products for cyber security, it will over all boosts up the digital agenda of the country as stated by the Department of Electronics & Information Technology (Diety).
R S Sharma, secretary, Deity said that “The recognition will help to fast forward programmes related to real time secured service delivery such as e-governance, e-commerce, financial inclusion schemes and citizen engagement platforms.”
He further added, “The authorisation status will give Indian electronics and IT manufacturing industry and government a collaborative environment the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Make in India.”
India was approved as an “Authorising Nation” in September last year under the Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement (CCRA), which thereby enabled it to test IT and electronics products for cyber security and issue internationally acceptable certificate.
Prior to this India was recognised under, “Consuming Nation” status, respect to certification of electronics and IT products. Consuming members were not allowed to issue internationally recognised certificates but they were free to issue national certificates.
