In June 2014, Littelfuse introduced the SM24CANA series of 200W TVS diode arrays for protecting the automotive controller area network (CAN) bus from damage due to electrostatic discharge (ESD), electrical fast transients (EFT), and other over voltage transients. These arrays absorb repetitive ESD strikes above the maximum level specified in the IEC61000-4-2 international standard without performance degradation. They safely dissipate 3 A of surge current with very low clamping voltages. These AEC-Q101 qualified devices help to maximise the reliability of automotive electronics applications like drive-by-wire (CAN BUS) systems, engine control modules, powertrain electronics, anti-lock brakes, airbags and other safety circuits. They are also suitable for use in industrial CAN bus applications that are susceptible to damage due to lightning-induced transients or ESD.
