Tuesday, July 01, 2010: It has been brought to the notice of DeitY that there have been confusion in the nomenclature of areas notified as Brownfield Electronics Manufacturing Clusters for the purpose of Modified Special Incentive Package (M-SIPS) Scheme. Under the Electronics Manufacturing Clusters Scheme, Brownfield EMC is eligible for 75% support (subject to a ceiling of `50 Crore). However, a brownfield EMC notified under MSIPS is merely an area notified to enable units in that area to obtain MSIPS benefits.
Therefore, to avoid any ambiguity in this regard, the Government of India has decided that all Brownfield Electronics Manufacturing Clusters notified under M-SIPS scheme will henceforth be termed and known as “Notified Electronics Manufacturing Clusters for the purpose of M-SIPS”
