Monday, June 23, 2014: The Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TIIC) has reportedly joined hands with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), to set up a solar farm in Mahabubnagar district. The farm would be set up on 6,000 acre of land with a generation capacity of 1, 000 MW.
Commenting on the solar farm, K Pradeep Chandra, special chief secretary and commissioner of industrial promotion, industries and commerce department, Telangana government, said, “Work on this project is in a preliminary stage. While we have already identified the land, we are working closely with SECI on how to take the project forward.” He was speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of PaperTech 2014, a two-day conference with the theme ‘Make Indian pulp and paper industry world class’ that kicked-off here on Friday.
The solar farm could be a major step to take Telangana into the world of green energy. However, there is no word on the investment and time of completion of the project so far.
