Monday, June 09, 2014:The Indian scrap market is reportedly expected to grow at a compound annual rate of about 30.6 per cent. In a report published by TechSci Research, known as the India E-Waste Management Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2019, the company has noted that the discarded electronics market is becoming a growing source of secondary commodities within the country.
The Noida-based company said in its report that India’s e-scrap market, “is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of around 30.6 per cent during 2014-19.” Further, the report identifies IT hubs like Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad as places where the volumes will rise particularly fast. “However, the country’s western and northern regions are also growing at a significant rate due to the introduction of new recycling facilities, especially in Delhi (and the) National Capital Region,” said the report.
The e-scrap market in India has reportedly been divided into various segments including IT, telecom, consumer electronics and large household appliances, said TechSci Research. In addition, personal computer, refrigerators, mobile phones, televisions and washing machines make for some of the fast-growing types of e-scrap in the country. The report also names Attero, Ecoreco, Sims Recycling, Earth Sense Recycle and TSS-AMM as the e-scrap recycling and management majors in the country.
