Thursday, May 15, 2014: If online reports are to be believed, Sony’s top executives have decided to return their share of annual bonus to the company, keeping in mind the company’s ongoing struggle with losses.
According to a Nikkei report, as many as 40 top executives of Sony, who are involved with electronics and headquarters operations of the company, will have to return 30-35 per cent of their annual pay. The proposal on the same was floated by chief executive Kazuo Hirai, said the report. The bonuses that are to be handed back could eventually amount to 1 billion yen ($9.8 million).
The company has recently declared results for the year ended 31 March. It also has plans to halt the commercial development of OLED TVs and continue with the 4K ultra high-definition LCD TVs to bring its TV business back to profitability.
