Friday, April 25, 2014: Putting the speculations to rest, HTC India has said that it has no plans of buying the Chennai based plant of Nokia India. The Taiwanese smartphone maker will continue to invest “into potential businesses”, but Nokia’s plant is not in their plan as of now.
According to an ET report, Chialin Chang, chief financial officer, HTC, was asked whether the company would be interested in buying Nokia India’s Chennai based manufactruing plant if the Finnish handset maker decides to sell it to other company other than Microsoft , to which he replied that the company is not thinking on these lines.
Chang reportedly said, “I am not aware of the situation but I am happy to look into it, because the overall preparation, exploration hinges upon if it will serve consumers better. If that will do that, then we’ll definitely do that. I don’t know the details well. But would be happy to look further into it.”
