Tuesday, December 24, 2013: If reports are to be believed, Samsung India has revamped its top management. As part of this new structure, all the top spots have been taken over by Korean executives. The company has appointed S K Kim as the new managing director who was earlier the senior VP of the firm. Now he will be responsible for growing sales of TV, home appliances and mobile phones. This also shows that the three divisions have been integrated.
Kim was earlier jointly leading the consumer electronics business with Atul Jain. Jain will now be heading business innovation for Samsung South-West Asia operations, which will cover markets like India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Kim and Jain’s role will now be taken over by JS Ham.
The only person from India in the top management is Vineet Taneja, who heads the mobile phone and digital imaging business of Samsung India, and will now report directly to Kim. Taneja earlier reported to BD Park, Samsung India and South West Asia president and CEO.
Park will now play an ’emeritus’ role and continue as the president and CEO, stated an ET report.
A Samsung India spokesperson told ET, “BD Park has been promoted to executive VP and continues in the role of president & CEO, Samsung India Electronics. To further enhance our focus on local sales and distribution, SK Kim has been promoted to the position of managing director, sales. Rest of the organizational changes have been made to increase the efficiency of our business operations.”
