Friday, December 06, 2013: Mamta Banerjee government has got into speedy action! As part of the plan, Bengal has planned to give clearances to new projects in three weeks. Partha Chatterjee, Bengal IT and industries minister said that the state was now trying to give clearances within a month, but the target would be to reduce the time further, reported Telegraph.
“Our aim is to bring it down to 21 days in projects where field verification is not required,” Chatterjee told media. A task force has been created to quickly implement new and ongoing projects in the state. The state government is also planning to appoint “relationship managers” to liaison between the investor and the members of the task force and various stakeholders.
The state aims to recast Shilpasathi, which is a single window set up to quickly clear projects. Chatterjee has said that in future any proposal being taken up under this mechanism would be cleared in three weeks.
The report stated, two IT parks are now operational and fully occupied at Siliguri and Durgapur, while seven more are being developed in tier II and III cities. The state is also developing a new hardware park at Sonarpur and two electronic manufacturing complexes at Naihati and Falta.
“I call upon all IT and telecom professionals working outside Bengal to come back and start investing,” Chatterjee told Telegraph India.
