STMicro announces its latest generation of STB chips

STMicroelectronics has announced set top box (STB) decoder chips, which can provide support for next generation security and content protection technologies that include the NDS VideoGuard security Kernel (the latest generation of embedded security solutions designed to protect media content and operator services), and the DVB-CSA3 broadcast descrambler specifications. Being the first ST device to implement these technologies, ST’s STi7108 decoder IC will deliver enhanced user experiences and allow consumers to enjoy broadcast, Internet or personal content on the TV, intuitively and at any time.
