Quad Electronic Solutions Pvt Ltd

Quad Electronics has entered into a joint venture with Skyworth India Electronics Pvt Ltd (a part of Shenzhen-based Skyworth Overseas Development) to set up a manufacturing facility in Hyderabad to manufacture LED TVs. The company will initially manufacture about 20,000 LED TVs a month, with the first set expected to roll out by the end of December. About 40 per cent of the components are to be produced in India and the remaining imported.

Reliance Power Ltd

Deals in: Power and energy

Reliance Power Ltd is installing a concentrating solar thermal power project over 600 acres close to Pokharan in Rajasthan. It has selected Areva Solar to build a concentrating solar power (CSP) installation that has a capacity of 250 MW. This is one of the largest CSP projects under the National Solar Mission. The project will employ 2000 people, with a localisation level of 60 per cent. It will source 60 per cent of its equipment in India.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL)

Deals in: Power, transmission, transportation, industrial systems, non-conventional energy

BHEL is to build world’s biggest solar plant near Jaipur, with a capacity of 4000 MW. The project will be built on 23,000 acres of land. The project’s first phase of 1000 MW will be built by a consortium, which includes BHEL, Solar Energy Corporation, Power Grid Corporation, SJVN, SSL, and Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments Ltd. The first phase of the project is to be operational by 2016. Once all the phases are completed, the project will generate 6000 million units of electricity, annually.

V-Guard Industries Ltd

Manufactures: electronics and electrical equipment, solar power equipment, wires and cables, stabilisers, motor pumps, etc

V-Guard Industries is commissioning India’s largest solar water heater manufacturing facility at Perundurai, Tamil Nadu. The plant will manufacture 90,000 units of solar water heaters annually. The company has invested Rs 180 million in this complex, which includes a 3483.86 sq m commercial warehouse.
