Friday, October 25, 2013: Amar Babu RK, who is the managing director of Lenovo India will reportedly be the president of MAIT (Manufacturers’ Association for Information Technology).
At present, Babu is the vice president of the industry body. He will be replacing JV Ramamurthy, president and COO, HCL Infosystems. Ramamurthy’s term ends this month and a formal announcement will most likely be made later this week.
Babu will be taking over the management of the MAIT at a time when the IT hardware industry in the country is witnessing several challenges including the Compulsory Registration Order (CRO), which demands BIS certification of almost all IT hardware products; the economic slowdown; the declining hardware market and the depreciating rupee, reported CRN.in.
