Saturday, October 19, 2013: Many solar projects that were auctioned in 2013 – 2014 are going to get commissioned the coming year. This would mean about 2.8 GW of solar photovoltaic power capacity should be added by this year. However, there is not going to be any commissioning of solar photovoltaic power capacity this year under the Central Government’s agenda, until the commissioning of the first batch.
As cited on cleantechnica.com, the majority of the capacity that will be commissioned, will be from Tamil Nadu. This would imply the state distribution company is signing power purchase agreements with projects, that have a capacity of 700 MW this year. This would get commissioned by next year.
Among other states, Bihar has also requested for installation of 250 MW offering tariff that are greater than other states. Maharashtra, the state that consumes maximum power has been working on a 125 MW solar project for a length of time now. Although the project had seen a delay due to it now being cleared, it should get commissioned soon.
However, the largest allotment of project for 2013 was done by Andhra Pradesh. It had bid a 1000 MW capacity in an auction. The project developers responded by offering to set up 1340 MW power capacity.
