The latest in thermal imagers

Wednesday, October 16, 2013: Thermal imaging, also known as thermography, is the technique of producing an image of invisible infrared light emitted by objects, with the use of a thermal imaging camera. These cameras rapidly scan a surface in a non-destructive and environment-friendly manner, which allows for quick detection of potential problems or defects. This reduces troubleshooting time and is a form of preventive maintenance. Manufacturing industries, refineries and many other sectors worldwide use infrared cameras to locate problems or to detect hot spots. In this section, we feature three thermal imaging cameras that were launched in the past one year.

Model: Testo 875i, Brand: Testo, Manufacturer: Testo AG, Germany

Launched in September 2013, this thermal imager can convert infrared radiation into electrical signals, and present them as a thermal image that makes heat radiation visible to the human eye.

Key features
The SuperResolution technology improves the image quality of this thermal imager by one class, within no time
More accurate temperature measurements without using a large detector
Four times as many readings in the thermal image—with geometric resolution of the thermal image improved by a factor of 1.6
Can measure objects that are 1.6 times smaller
Far more details for PC-based analyses, and thus qualitatively and quantitatively improved evaluation options in the thermography report
