Wednesday, September 25, 2013: Renewable Energy has now gained ground as a practical necessity from just being considered as a fad. Fortunately, Nagpur is bestowed with enough sunshine and hence, solar energy is viewed as a logical alternative to the conventional sources of energy.
Now, it has gained popularity with individuals, industrialists, entrepreneurs as well as builders opting for it in huge numbers. The reason behind the increasing use of solar energy is that the people are becoming more and more eco-conscious coupled with the rise in the cost of conventional energy.
Despite initial cost acted as a deterrent few years ago, consumers now realize the benefits they can reap in the coming years given the fact that recovery of capital expenditure will be faster.
“The sale of solar equipment and gadgets have increased as cost of conventional energy has increased by 10 per cent per annum for the last few years. Consumer perception and behaviour has changed tremendously. Today, as volumes have increased, the cost of production has reduced. With initial investment reduced, the recovery period is now as low as 18 to 24 months in some cases,” The Times of India quoted Nitin Sangle, Head Sales & Service-Solar (GM) of Racold Thermo.
Sangle stated that some products such as water heaters are more in demand in comparison to other devices. Moreover, he said that in starting the government provided loan in order to boost solar installation, however, the 30 per cent subsidy is effective too. Apart from this, a Nagpur-born engineer presently living in Miami has been putting efforts to build a two megawatt solar plant near Katol since the last three years.
