Thursday, September 19, 2013: Bosh, which is considered a leading supplier of technology and services in the field of automotive, industrial technology and consumer goods is on an expansion spree. It is going to invest $240 million (Rs 1,500 crore) over the coming seven years in Bengaluru. This investment is meant for expansion of manufacturing, research and development capabilities.
This German auto component manufacturer is moving its six decade old manufacturing facility from Adugodi to Bidadi, approximately 32km from Bengaluru city. Thereby, the space, which will be vacant because of relocation will be utilized for the purpose of Bosch R&D Centre and Robert Bosch Engineering & Business Solutions.
Adugodi premises will continue to remain the company’s India head office.
“This move to relocate underlines our commitment to India and especially to the state of Karnataka. The developing industrial area in Bidadi will offer larger space and better infrastructure support for our future expansion,” The Times of India quoted Steffen Berns, MD, Bosch Ltd. He stated that work has been initiated at its new facility, portion of which will be operational in the coming two years.
Moreover, relocation will take place in a phased manner. The company is making investments worth Rs 2.5 billion (Rs 250 crore) in establishing phase I of the Bidadi plant that will be operational in the third quarter of fiscal 2015.
