Thursday, August 29, 2013: TE Connectivity has plans for the expansion of its fiber presence through fiber-based solutions for fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks. According to the company, it has completed implementation of fiber in 25,000 to 30,000 homes through neutral hosts. Moreover, it will make use of government’s fiber initiatives. KK Shetty, director, Network Solutions, TE Connectivity, India and SAARC, revealed that the company is offering fiber solutions for Bharat Broadband Nigam Limited’s National Fiber Optics Program through its partners.
The company is hopeful that demand for fiber may go up after basic infrastructure comes up. Increase in deployments of Distributed Antenna System (DAS) is in the company’s offing. Recently, DAS system was deployed in Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Largest share of revenue is derived from enterprise and data communication verticals while contribution to the revenues from mid-range IT market and BFSI verticals is supposed to start in the current fiscal. A new manufacturing facility is nearing completion and expected to be ready by June 2014 with 70 per cent of it being completed until now. There are total seven manufacturing plants in Bangalore and Pune. With almost 100 R&D engineers in India, it looks after development and customization of solutions keeping in mind the local needs along with price factor.
