Friday, August 16, 2013: The Consumer Electronics and Applicances Manufacturers Association (CEAMA) is going to produce 20 million set top boxes by December 2014, the organisation said today.
According to a report by the Hindu Business Line (HBL), Anirudh Dhoot, president of CEAMA and director at Videocon, said in a seminar, that the association has been working with the stakeholders and government, both central and state, in order to make sure that growth issues in the country are taken care of.
In addition, Dhoot commented on the Goods and Services Tax (GST), saying that he hoped for it to be implemented soon.
“Due to sluggish economy, the growth of our sector has come down substantially. The government has taken some steps to correct the situation. We are fortunate that the monsoon has been good this year. This should revive the agricultural economy and should help in the revival of the economy as a whole,” the HBL quoted him as saying.
Others present at the event included Gulu Mirchandani, chairman and managing director of Mirc Electronics, Ravinder Zutshi, deputy managing director of Samsung India and many others.
