Monday, August 12, 2013: The government supported association, Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), will soon come up with a strategy to tap the African region, the huge potential market for export of electronics hardware and software. The strategy will help the industry to penetration the region and explore the markets, a ESC statement said.
“The region (Africa) is of paramount importance to future growth of the Indian electronics and IT sector on account of the fast digitalisation programme embarked by some of the African countries,” said DK Sareen, executive director, ESC, in the statement.
ESC’s Africa strategy will divide the African region into five segments, depending on their geographical proximity. Each geographical unit will be studied in depth to identify the potentials markets, the challenges an Indian company can face and the possible solutions, Sareen said. To start with, East Africa will be taken up for intense study.
ESC will organise a meeting soon with heads of African missions to understand their views and explore working jointly to tap the electronics and IT sector for mutual development.
The 14th edition of ESC’s flagship event ‘Indiasoft will take place in Mumbai in November 2013, which will be attended by 35 delegates from 13 countries including Ghana, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Tanzania, which are making significant investments in the IT sector.
