The Eco-Hut is an example of how modern technology can be used for a better and healthier environment.
Friday, July 26, 2013: It took 20 days to construct the Eco-Hut, which receives its lighting through solar panels and a windmill. The Eco-Hut is an example of how modern technology can be used for a better and healthier environment.
Moreover, it uses energy saving devices such as LEDs, toilet flush with lowest discharge, underground energy free natural earthen refrigerator and drip/sprinkle irrigation for plants. The Eco-Hut relies on rain water for its water supply.
The hut does not receive water supply from other sources such as the city’s supply system and other private sources. The Eco-Hut consumes 100 litres of water as compared to 400 litres by a modern house of 600 square feet. It also recycles and reuses domestic solid waste, reports Enegry Lives News.
According to S. Padmanabhan, executive director operations at Tata Power, “We are happy that we are continuously contributing towards sustainability and environment conservation. This definitely puts more responsibility on us to achieve more and more around sustainable performance.”
