Friday, July 05, 2013: NTPC, the largest power company in the country has granted a 50 MW solar PV project to Tata Powers to be taken up at Raigarh, Madhya Pradesh. The project is a part of the dream portfolio of 1 GW power renewable energy plants by the end of 2017.
According to NTPC, this project would help double the capacity of the current capacity in the state. The plan is expected to be completed by March 2014 and will be able to generate more than 78.66 million KWh of renewable energy every year starting 2014. This will certainly be a big and important contribution to the energy deficit faced by Madhya Pradesh. The annual deficit for the state is 9.6 per cent.
According to the chief executive of Tata Powers, Ajay Goel, the company is certainly proud to be partnering with NTPC in its dream goals which would be a benefit for the nation at large. This current project of 50 MW also brings the core powers of Tata Power to be used together and they being quality solar module manufacturing and a high quality, competitive engineering, construction capability and procurement.
Tata is confident about timely completion of the project and said that the competitive pricing they offer comes along with technical expertise and demonstrable ability for the same. This is what led to winning of the project too. Tata Power is already operating a 125 MW PV manufacturing plant in Bangalore and is done with 70 MW grid connections till date.
