Friday, June 14, 2013: Taiwan is considering to shift to India 10 per cent of its total investments in China. Informing this at the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) Conclave hosted by Indian Chamber of Commerce in New Delhi, recently, Chung Kwang Tien, ambassador of Taiwan to India, said that manufacturing cost in China is increasing, hence, Taiwan is looking towards India as the next electronics manufacturing hub.
Presently, Taiwan’s FDI to India is as low as 1.2 per cent of total Taiwan’s FDI, and its trade with India is just 1.05 per cent of the total Taiwan’s trade. Highlighting these figures, Tien said, “There is a lot of room for more trade with India. Taiwan can contribute its OEM capabilities to make quality ICT (information and communications technology) products in India,” he adds.
Taiwan is also considering to develop country-dedicated zone in India. “We are also considering to enhance technical collaboration with India. Taiwan companies can contribute in verticals like solar, LED, automotive electronics, IT devices, etc,” adds Tien.
Taiwan’s ICT industry focuses on R&D, electronics hardware manufacturing, and high quality products at affordable price.
