Solar batteries, unlike the conventional type, store power from the primary source of energy (the sun) rather than power from the mains (electricity). Solar batteries are of three types—lead acid solar batteries, sealed maintenance free valve regulated lead acid (SMF VRLA) batteries and deep cycle solar batteries. These are well proven technologies that have been in use for a long time. Therefore, what players offer as ‘new’ solar batteries are usually modified versions with added features, while the technology remains the same.
Here are some of the latest launches.

Model: Yellow Battery, Brand: North Star Yellow, Manufacturer: Artheon Battery Co, Nashik
Launched in March 2013, the Yellow Battery comes with the front terminal for easy installation and maintenance. These batteries are designed at C10 for best results. The chemistry of these batteries provides deep cycle usage and fast recharging. These batteries are the vertical FT type resulting in a small foot print that occupies less space. It is very useful in solar telecom applications.
Key features
- Superior performance, simple installation and reduced maintenance
- Advanced lead calcium alloy delivers reliable performance
- C10 of 100Ah at 20°C / 101Ah at 25°C
- Operating temperature range of -40°C to +50°C (-40°F to +122°F)
