Fujitsu Semiconductor Asia Pte Ltd (FSAL), a leading MCU solution provider of cutting edge applications like advanced driver assistance, navigation, infotainment, cluster, body control and many more, is ready to cater to the upcoming needs of the Indian automotive industry. In an exclusive interview with EFY, its technical experts spoke about the company’s focused products and how it is way ahead of the industry to meet Indian automotive market’s future requirements.
Dashboard applications: In the dashboard applications segment, Fujitsu is quite popular with its wide range of clusters from basic entry level to top end premium level, covering the complete set of functionalities like display of time, mileage, gear mode, tyre pressure, stepper motor control, sound generation, parking assist, video input and CAN communication. The high end graphic clusters like GDC JADE, which is already available in the market, is really an ahead of time solution powered by ARM926EJ Single Core processor with advanced features like display controllers, video capture units, 2D/3D graphics engine, memory and serial bus interfaces.
Driver assistance: Another state-of-the-art application for driver assistance that FSAL is focusing on is 360 Wrap Around View (360 WAV). The solution combines the images from four cameras placed at front, back, right and left side of the car and produce an image of 360 degree view around the car using 3D mapping and processing.
BCM & HVAC: Other than these applications, FSAL is also targeting applications like BCM (body control module), HVAC (heating, ventilating and air-conditioning), and HMI (human machine interface) with their complete range of dedicated automotive grade high quality MCUs with proprietary core.
MCU solutions: Automotive is not the only industry that FSAL is looking at. They have 8, 16 and 32 bit MCU solutions for industrial and commercial markets, too. These MCUs find place in applications like inverter air conditioner, thermal printer, dishwasher, cooker and solar application to name a few. The Fujitsu cortex-M3 MCUs are majorly for medium to large scale applications with operating frequency of 20 to 144 MHz. FM3 series is the high end ARM Cortex M3 core MCU with the highest operating frequency of 144 MHz. Soon Fujitsu is coming up with FM4 series with 160 MHz.
High performance memories: FSAL also offers high quality and high performance memories that are used in various applications such as power meter, vehicle tracking system, mobiles, digital appliances, banking terminals, security card and Medical applications.
Box Item: To Be Launched
FSAL has now come up with MB39C60x series LED Driver solution specifically for India market.
MB39C601 is a flyback type switching regulator controller IC. It is very suitable for commercial and residential lighting applications.
FSAL’s dedicated chips to meet low power consumption requirements
As low power design has become the common voice of electronic industry, FSAL has designed these dedicated chips considering the low power consumption requirements of the customers using various technologies like clock frequency for system, voltage selection, analysis of critical and non-critical portion of design etc. Technical expert from FSAL also discussed the low power design techniques using proper selection of components like diodes, MOSFETS, regulators and DC/DC converters in the design with more suitable choices during the EFY EXPO 2013. He also elaborated techniques on optimization of software in MCU’(Putting I/O’s in Hi-Z state, selecting proper clock frequency for the application and giving a proper demarcation in sleep mode and active mode during designing of software) which can reduce overall power consumption of the system.
