Bengal government is laying plans and details on the upcoming electronic clusters.
The Bengal government has planned to shape two new electronic Clusters on 70 and 42 acres land at Naihati, North 24 Parganas and Falta, South 24 Parganas, respectively. To do the same, they are reportedly planning to hire advisers to shape up the plan. Both land areas belong to West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) and West Bengal Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBIIDC) which are state government agencies.
In a conference of the eastern India regional council of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, Susanta Majumdar, Secretary of the state information and technology departments said that, “Request for proposals for the two clusters have been floated and they are hopeful of appointing transaction advisers for the projects within the first week of May.” Majumdar added that the advisers would help to prepare a detailed project report and also identify potential investors.
The clusters will offer land to hardware manufacturers for building manufacturing units and will receive financial assistance from government on a PPP basis. Support will be around 50 per cent of the cost of project upto Rs 50 crore, for every 100 acres for greenfield.
The IT secretary has confirmed that once the project reports are ready with all details, they would be forwarded to the Centre for approval.
